Aanisah C. Long is an alternative soul and hip-hop artist born in Los Angeles, California. As the daughter of Alicia D. Long and music icon "The Legendary Kokane," she was born into a rich musical legacy. Her grandfather, Jerry B. Long Sr., was a celebrated writer and composer for Motown Records who worked alongside legends such as Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, and Frank Sinatra.
Surrounded by this profound heritage, Aanisah’s passion for singing ignited at an early age. Heavily influenced by iconic voices like Sade, Mariah Carey, Ella Fitzgerald, Michael Jackson, Amy Winehouse, and Luther Vandross, she spent her childhood performing wherever she could.
Her pivotal moment arrived in 2005 at a high school talent show. Though not officially on the bill, Aanisah stepped up to perform an acapella rendition of Mariah Carey’s "Circles." Her voice mesmerized the audience, earning a standing ovation and cementing her path as a vocalist.
Throughout the years, Aanisah spent countless hours in the studio with her father, studying the recording process and honing her craft. This dedication resulted in her earliest recorded tracks, including "Family," "Fork in the Road," "Just Know," and "Cry Out." A multi-faceted creative, Aanisah always stayed productive outside the vocal booth, embracing her talent for filming and directing by shooting and editing short films and comedy skits with her siblings.
In 2009, Aanisah made history as the first female artist signed to the independent record label Bud E Boy Entertainment. As a driven philanthropist, her remarkable voice led her to the "World Vision Clean Water Project," an initiative created by Leon McLaughlin and Paula Boggs (former president of Starbucks Coffee) to combat famine in developing nations. As one of the project's youngest spokespersons, her song "Cry Out" (Track 9) was featured on World Vision’s Bringing Clean Water to the World compilation on iTunes, and later served as a tribute song following the 2011 tsunami in Japan.
Blessed with a sultry, soulful voice frequently compared to greats like Mariah Carey, Sade, and Toni Braxton, Aanisah delivers a perfect combination of styles that soothe the heart, mind, and soul. She continues to elevate her sound and expand her catalog, most recently making waves with her brand-new singles, "Sweet" and "Peace N Wine".
